rememberedmehome

I’ve heard
them tell
of summer storms
beyond the reach
of winters –
of places where the spring
has gone to stay
wrapped around
a bitter bark –
falling into sorrow
a time to keep
of lifetimes
yesterday

held us here
with promise –
with want for one last time
a life reserved
if ever fate allowed
given will to gather
lest we choose
another way –
beholding not to
consequence
somehow

changing
as were seasons
passing us to years –
golden crowns
with ribbons furling grey
wherein our faith
is measured –
a truth
we carry still
of times we lived
for this –
another day

. . .
