surely

here
and I listen
speak and so slowly
the dark pulls away from the night
a prisoner stirs
from secrets well kept
and leans her way
into light

forgiven
to being
forgotten allegiance
even now –
my whispers are heard
in places kept safe
by coming and going
– scattered as wish
into word

stay my communion
as one shade of summer
skylight confessions
I make
flush with the shadow
of all night returning
– will love find my arms
when thought
stirs awake
