rise me

secrets wear
the story long
and there my purpose known
as quiet moves
these sleepless bones
to write

as repentance held
lips still wet with prayer
as silence wraps
forgiveness ‘round
the night

as blush the morn
becoming new
a refuge to my soul
never were so bright

the sun
shall rise me gently
as wings above the flame
a tremor held in place
against the light

almost forgotten
are gathered on the lawn
longing wills my whisper
into flight
