sometimessosweet

woke the heart
to thunder –
e’er this might be the day
I’d sleep til noon
and never say your name
never want
for more than this –
silence wrapped in sheets
daylight pulling breath
across my bars

once before
and here am I –
agreed another sun
for knowing you
how long the leaving for
midnight
seems to have no say
hands to trace the clock
rain is falling
somewhere
I can tell

of places
there’s another
universe the same –
though not so much
for grieving
roses bloom
sapphire to an endless sky
pillows seldom talk
– morning comes
and I’m not missing you

. . .
